ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
The City of Fairfield is the county seat for Wayne County, Illinois. Fairfield Municipal government is a Mayor – Aldermanic form of government consisting of four wards and two aldermen representing each of those wards. Regular City Council meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month; special meetings are scheduled as needed. Meetings are held in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 109 NE 2nd Street, Fairfield, IL 62837 with a 6:00 p.m. meeting time.
